Digital Nomads Greece, is proud to offer a pilot extraordinary proposition to fellow travelling digital nomads, featuring immense nature, exotic culture and all modern amenities, under a convenient budget.
Asomatos village is astonishing on itself. It’s a traditional mountain village, almost entirely pavestoned, located within lush surrounding nature and homing nearly two hundred villagers.
There is a christian orthodox church with a tiny folk museum, a small convenience store, a bakery, a traditional cafe, a wood sculpting workshop and a community center.
A mobile grocery truck passes through twice a day, fishermen visit it near daily, even a mobile candy shop drops by once a week, so there is actually no need to leave the village.
The state bus reaches the village twice a day interconnecting Asomatos with the rest of the island.
We hold an old residence, located near the outskirts of the village, some 150 steps away from the central water fount and less than 100 steps from a natural stream.
The house features:
It can easily accommodate up to 5 persons.
It currently accommodates the two of us and our cat.
Mytilene, the island’s capital, central port, hospital and airport is nearly 30 minutes drive time, towards the far east of the island, and accommodates a really vibrant international society, mixed with locals, tourists, university students, NGO workers, volunteers, immigrants and refugees.
Lesvos is the heart of the European refugee crisis and as of 2020 hosts nearly 20.000 immigrants and refugees – native population is 85.000.
Being only an hour away from Turkey, Lesvos has been a crossroads since the paleolithic era. It is -among other- considered the birthplace of Lyricism and Botanology and thus has a great deal of things to demonstrate on music and art, as well as nature and food.
As tourism is not the island’s primary industry, few people are aware of its riches and many consider it a hidden gem destination.
We came here nearly two years ago, to set up our base of operations, to support our Digital Nomad Greece project, promoting:
1) the notion of a digital nomad friendly infrastructure for Greece and
2) a swift towards the remote-work-paradigm for local entrepreneurs and established businesses.
Apart from our online work, we try to live as close to nature as possible, holding back to forgotten luxuries, such as cultivating our own food, chopping our own wood, hunting mushrooms and herbs, making olive oil, cooking food, pies and jars, doing art, playing music and enjoying our time.
Truth be told, it often feels like a dream. Our company is blessed with a handful of fairy beings, while in the very outskirts of western civilization, greatly untouched by it’s destructive vanity.
That being said, we would like to welcome you to our place, accommodate, host you and assist you in enjoying your stay in our company, or elsewhere in the island. All things considered, our place can be excellent for digital nomads, providing a variety of places for work, entertainment or leisure. In terms of budget, it can be as low as 100€ per week per person, involving solely household expenses and eating, provided that you also aid in relevant to your stay, day-to-day activities. From there on, there are plenty of add-ons depending on your preferences and budget.
If you are interested in being hosted or rent out our place for your team or family, please drop a message at firstname.lastname@example.org. Our intention is to cultivate a local hub with certain hosting spots around the island and promote the Digital Nomad lifestyle. Ideally you would like to get involved with that.
